All are invited and welcome to join us for the Annual Good Friday Walk from St. John’s to St. Francis of Assisi. This is a great opportunity for families to be involved in our Lord’s Way of the Cross, as well as a wonderful Christian witness to the Longmont community.
We will be stopping at certain points along the way to pray the Rosary and the Stations of the Cross. We end with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy inside St. Francis Parish right after the walk. We hope to arrive about 11:30 a.m. Father Frank will be available for confessions.
On Friday, April 14th we will gather in the St. John’s parking lot at 7:45 a.m. Our solemn and prayerful walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. sharp. For those who need to walk a shorter distance or need a wheelchair, we hope to arrive at the JC Penney on Hover and Nelson Roads at 9:45 a.m. Please park on the north side of the building and look for us. We will gather there for ten minutes of prayer and a restroom break.
You may bring wagons, strollers, sunscreen, rosaries, water, and snacks. You may also want to bring your own lunch to eat at the end of the walk. Please do NOT bring bikes, skates, scooters, iPods, music, or social texting. Kids in previous years have made their own light-weight cross to carry; as the larger cross will be carried by adults only.
The Stations of the Cross prayer booklet and the Litany of Humility prayer can be found below. Please make sure you have enough copies for your family to follow along. We will also be doing the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary if you need to bring that as well. Please dress for the weather!
There will be cars available at St. Francis to take walkers back to St. John’s and JC Penney to retrieve their cars.
