Parents and godparents must attend baptism preparation class prior to a child’s baptism. Baptism preparation classes are an important way for parents and sponsors to come to a deeper understanding of their faith commitment in the sacrament of Baptism. Classes are required for those seeking the baptism of an infant or small child (aged 6 and younger), and is designed to provide foundational instruction for a lifetime of faith. The classes give a brief history of Baptism, provide understanding of symbols and values to be passed on to the children, and are an opportunity for small group faith discussions.  Older children (aged 7 and above) receive this instruction through their Religious Education classes.
