Stephen Ministry

The Stephen Ministry is one of St. John's tangible extensions of our care and concern for one another in times of need. Stephen Ministers are trained and supervised lay persons serving:

  • all Catholics hospitalized at Longmont United Hospital
  • the homebound and elderly for visitation or Communion
  • those facing serious or terminal illness
  • those who are grieving; or facing life transition; or experiencing faith crisis
  • those just needing a listening ear, kindness, and care from their church
  • All shared conversations and information are kept strictly confidential.

People who need care grow in a deeper relationship with their Lord as they experience God's unconditional love for them through their Stephen Minister.

Stephen Ministers are required to meet twice monthly after an intensive training program for support, peer supervision, continuing education, community and faith development. You may learn more about the Stephen Ministry programs or make a referral by calling Sr. Michelle Black at 303-776-0737 ext. 145 or Louis or Janet Washam at 303-776-0737 ext. 116.
